The Madhesh Province Women’s Selection Cricket tournament was an exciting and a fairly contested event, with some amazing matches and impressive performances from the participating teams. The series was contested between six districts from Madhesh Province: Siraha, Rautahat, Sarlahi placed in group A and Bara, Mahottari and Saptari placed in group B. The tournament saw single-round robin format with top two teams from each group advancing to the semi-finals and the winners to contest in the finals.
The tournament kicked off last week on Monday with a match between the Rautahat District and Siraha District teams, with the latter coming out on top in what seemed like a one sided encounter. This set the tone for the rest of the tournament, with most of the matches proving to have some disparities between teams and some closely contested.
The standout performances of the tournament came from the Bara District, who impressed with their solid batting and consistent bowling winning all matches in the series to become champions. Players such as Sana Praveen, Pratima Sah shone with their all-around cricketing skills, and the team’s teamwork and determination saw them emerge as one of the top contenders
In the finals, it was the Bara district team who emerged as the champions beating Siraha by 5 runs, thanks to their solid all-around performance and excellent teamwork. They were closely followed by the Siraha team, who put up a strong fight in the final match but ultimately fell short of just 5 runs chasing the target of 95 runs.
Overall, the Madhesh Province Selection Cricket Tournament showcased some of the best efforts from the women cricketers in the region displaying their skills and passion for the game. Pratima Sah from Bara was adjudged as the Player of the Series and Best Batter while Bandana Chaudhary from the same district bagged the award for the Best Bowler of the Series.
